kaoya is a compact 4HP ducking module designed with techno in mind.

It takes a kick signal and an incoming audio signal, and automatically ducks the audio in response to the kick while mixing the kick back into the output. The result is that classic pumping effect — tight, musical, and ready to sit in a mix without extra routing.

While you can patch something similar using envelopes, VCAs, and mixers, it quickly adds up in terms of space and complexity. kaoya keeps it simple and immediate in a small footprint.

You get direct control over the feel of the ducking with three parameters: kick level, duck amount, and release. From subtle groove shaping to heavy pumping, it’s all right there.

The design is fully through-hole, making it easy to build and accessible for DIY beginners.
